Meet the members of our international ECFA jury.
They will review all nominated films and present awards for Best Film, Best Short Film and Best Short Documentary.
Calliope Charalambous Krief founded the Athens International Children's Film Festival in 2018 and has been the festival director ever since.
She has worked as a producer and director for theater and television. She has also produced large scale televised music shows for the youth.
She has a Bachelor's Degree in Humanities from the University of Athens and a Master's Degree in Theater from King's College London and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Hidde de Vries grew up in the north of the Netherlands and began volunteering at a local cinema at the age of eight. He later studied Production at the Netherlands Film Academy.
In 2020, he completed a Master’s in Creative Producing at the DAS Graduate School. After several years of producing, he shifted his focus ensuring that films are seen, with a strong preference for talent development.
He does this at Kapitein Kort, his distribution company for short films, at Cinekid Festival as head of the Films & Series department, and as a board member of the Association of Small Cinemas (VVF), which he founded in 2021.
Christophe Verbiest studied film directing at RITCS, where he directed the short film Een Maaltijd in 1992. However, during his studies, he became enamored with journalism. Since 1993, he has been working at VRT; first at Radio 1 and, since 2008, at Klara. He is currently an editor for Espresso and a music curator for Zanzibar.
He has been writing for De Morgen since 1990, and from 2003 onward, as a film critic. He has written about film for Cinemagie, Flanders Today, The Bulletin, Filmmagie, Vertigo and Humbug. All these magazines have ceased to exist, but he claims he had nothing to do with that. He is a proud member of the film quiz team MacGuffins and occasionally organizes a film quiz in his free time.
Lauranne Van den Heede (BE, 1995) is a documentary director and impact producer. In her work, she is strongly drawn to socially engaged themes that evoke strong emotions in her. She translates these in a poetic and humane way.
In 2019, a year after graduating from RITCS, she made two short documentaries. Both A Reasonable Life and Radio Felix were shown on VRT and selected for several festivals such as IDFA, CICFF, Pariscience, Cinekid, Docville, IKL, and others.
Last year, her most recent short film Fallen and Standing premiered at Docville. Since 2021, she has also been working as an impact producer, first at Clin d'œil films and currently at Filmpact.
She contributed to the impact campaigns for Draw for Change!, Young Plato, and others. She is currently working on the campaigns for The Last Jewish Summer and Les Dames Blanches.
JEF makes it easy to find or offer quality youth films and games. To broaden the horizons of children and young people. To encourage experimentation and creation.
