Afghan Sajid's personal journey is the foundation of this intimate documentary about the psychological pressures on young refugees. How does he cope with distrustful authorities, hostile citizens and bad news from back home?
They call it 'the game', the life-threatening journey many unaccompanied minors take in search of protection in Western Europe. For Sajid Khan Nasiri, the game began after the Taliban killed his father. Via Iran, Turkey and Eastern Europe, the 14-year-old is getting closer and closer to his destination. He documents his journey with his phone and reports back to filmmakers Eefje Blankevoort and Els van Driel. Once in Belgium, he hopes to build a future, but there a new mind game of procedures and bureaucracy begins.
